Shawnee Wolves Baseball Hosting Free Little League Developmental League
The Shawnee Wolves Little League Developmental League is a two-week league that will focus on teaching young kids the fundamental skills needed to play successful baseball. The League will be run by Shawnee Wolves Coaching Staff and players.
This is a free league that is open to any student who was in 2nd–5th grades in 2020-2021 and who attend a Shawnee Elementary School. These schools consist of Horace Mann, Sequoyah, Will Rogers, and Jefferson. Students 2nd-5th grades who attend a local K-8 school (Grove, Pleasant Grove and South Rock Creek) are also eligible to participate.
The teams will be broken up into five teams: Horace Mann, Sequoyah, Will Rogers, Jefferson, and an Independent Team for students from Grove, SRC and Pleasant Grove. Each team will be assigned coaches that will be in charge of running practices and coaching scrimmage games.
Week 1 of the League will be focused on fundamental skill development. Week 2 of the League will consist of controlled scrimmage type games with Shawnee Wolves Baseball Coaches and players coaching, pitching and umpiring.
The League will be two weeks long running Monday-Thursday from 10 to 11:45 a.m. on the weeks of June 7th and 14th (June 7-10 and 14-17) at the Shawnee YMCA Baseball Fields. The league is free, and players will be responsible for bringing glove, hat, helmet and bat, if they have one. Some bats will be available. Players will also be responsible for bringing their own water bottles.
Sign up sheets can be brought June 7 at 9 a.m. (first day of the League).
