Shawnee Schools Receive $54,000 Nutrition Grants
Shawnee Public Schools Nutrition Services Department has received three Equipment Assistance grants totaling more than $54,000 from the Oklahoma State Department of Education's Child Nutrition Programs.
According to Maria Isenhower, director of child nutrition for SPS, the grant funds will be used to purchase three steamers to be housed in the kitchens at Jefferson, Sequoyah and Will Rogers elementary schools. These steamers will be used to prepare healthy vegetables for students, Isenhower said.
Each steamer is valued at more than $18,000.
